She was a lovely daughter

She was a lovely daughter

Full of life and laughter

An angel with diverse interests

She loved music and reading as well

Ambitiously moved ahead

Took to human service

In her good stead

Dedicated and sincere was she

A brilliant physician was he

A bond of friendship formed

Into love soon it transformed

Resistance from her clan

An outsider was the man

Fate further played unfair

To the lady who was fair

A faltering worker caught

Avenger laid a plot

A beautiful flower crushed

Destroyed her with lust

Just darkness around her

She lay still for years

A kind heart and sweet smile

Faded by pain so vile

She could not cry out for justice

The world failed to protest

She was a lovely daughter

Now lifeless and devoid of laughter

    1. Sonali, Thank you for reading. This one is loosely based on a true story which has touched me

  1. Poignant poem Pradnya, reflects the sorry state of our country’s girls and women.
