Singapore Lanes

In the lanes of Singapore, I wander

Seeing the enticing views of houses

Intricately designed, yet so simplistic in view

How well coordinated the whole street is

The residents may be having a cosy time in there

Its shivering cold here, outside, with no fire around

.

At the end the street, I see lighting

and few good men, inviting me

to the Christmas celebrations

I peek inside, but think twice

to accept the invitation

I somewhat see a fireplace and some food

With apprehension, I get inside

.

It’s a cheerful place

strangely, all of them are strangers to each other

Is it my luck to have landed here?

and found company of people unrelated to me

who are so welcoming

I’m happy to be in, but also a little confused

.

Whom should I trust?

these men who welcomed me

or those who said

there’s no one for you in this world

and the world is nothing but a lie!
