Baby Steps-Then and Now

slow down, hold my finger, he cautioned

grab the handle, don’t ride fast! he shouted

don’t stay out late, it’s not safe, he warned

worry, excitement, anxiety, enthusiasm,

joy and pride, pain and sorrow

the father experienced a flurry of emotions

as the son took baby steps into the big bad world

.

focus, see how I move my finger’, he cautions

touch it lightly, don’t bang on the screen, he shouts

don’t click on any random link, it’s not safe, he warns

joy, excitement, and enthusiasm,

exasperation, worry, and anxiety

the son is a bundle of emotions

as the father takes baby steps into the digital world.
