Barely finished

Hog hair kneads hues,

Grinding ‘em against the grain, luring

knives, palettes and eyes—

Towards a murky sea, still’d,

That gains momentum with impasto

Fiery ball suspended.

Quick dry strokes dot

And lather a pale blue sky

On the stretched  bland canvas.

Each successive coat livens

The rafts, crags and gulls’ cries

Barges bob, brushing blues.
