May 21
Another day, perhaps, another week
Weakness has set in, my mind’s in a tizzy
Buckets to clear away nausea,
I can’t for the life of me believe
I’m a mom-to-be. My eyes shine
And I can only reminisce
Another day when my
Mother told me in a rather
Shy way, she too felt that way.
****
What chemical reaction
I wondered was responsible
For the euphoria of Motherhood?
How did the brain release loads of
Serotonin, Oxytocin
And Endorphins? Because,
All seems sunny to mothers
Or moms-to-be,
Be it a colic or loosies
Searching eyes, or a piercing howl
Cacophony on the table
Or her young one’s school blues.
Nothing perturbs a mommy!
A Mother’s heart aches only for her baby.
She’d give all to watch a crooked toothless smile,
Or, the first step taken clumsily.
***
She’s closest to being a goddess,
Oh Lord, but then why are mothers rather modest?
