I often think
About you and me;
And sometimes
Aimlessly about us.
We’re mostly together
Yet wishing to be free
Of each other.
Living our lives as is
Carrying pieces
Of our unfortunate love
With audible silences.
Do I know of the love
That lived in your past?
Do you see the emptiness
That I carry within me
Like the prints on my palm?
Maybe you’ve dreams,
That are frozen
In twilight’s tears too.
Do we want to know?
No, we wouldn’t dare
We’d never linger
We’d quietly hate parts
Of one another and live on.
For we aren’t
Extraordinary or anything
We’re just normal people.
