Masked Man

Me and sadness

Broken feelings

Hurt emotions

Painful cries

No one knows

How many scars

Innumerable tears

I hide behind

My masked face

For i was once

A happy soul too

Kind and caring

Simple and trusting

But this world

Pierced the fabric

Of my soul

Through its backstabbing

And selfishness

And I tried

To cope with my failings

Tried to hide my pain

But people

Didn’t let me

So I became

A masked man

But sometimes

This mask cracks

Glimpses of my old self

Are visible

Through its gaps

But I have changed

And this world will see

A new me

When I take off

My mask again
