Old Wives Tales

Old soul still believes in the stories,

That grandma in the childhood told,

My heart still has ample room for

Goblins,monsters and knights bold.

                         *
Beyond the clouds existed a world.

Where angels and fairies resided,

Sorrow and pain couldn’t enter that space,

Grandma’s tales had thus described.

                          *
I could fancy colourful gardens,

With birds and beasts of myriad hues,

Dancing ans Singing blissful lays divine,

Living on the clouds’ soft fluffy floor .

                            *
Often childish fancy took me there,

Even when my  grandma was no more,

But mom told me she went to live,

Herself in that place of bliss for sure.

                         *
I missed her every dark night,

Felt disappointed  and quite sore.

Why didn’t she take me along ,

Didn’t she love me anymore ?

                       *
Alas! I grew up too soon  to find,

An airless space exists and extends ,

To galaxies, planets, stars and beyond,

Thus knowledge my cherished fancy ends.

    1. Yes Moonmoon,That is a special bond. Sometimes stronger than that of parents.

  4. So poignant ma’am. It laments the loss of innocence as much as the loss of grandmother.

  5. Oh Sarita M’am you made me reminisce about my own Grandma. Such a versatile story teller she was, if she was still alive she would be a star in the Writers and Readers Room.
Thanks for this. Brought happy memories back for me.😍
