Yearnings of a soldier’s soulmate

She waited with patience braving the heat,

Their rendezvous delayed, she was in grief,

Her soul yearned for him with long lasting need,

Her ardent prayer, an impassioned plea,

With courage and faith, she chose to remain,

At last he appeared, from the land afar,

Soothed her pining soul, to dampen the blaze,

Promised his soulmate, a lifetime of love.
