Ugly duckling
She was an ugly duckling
The black sheep of the family
Yes, dark skinned
Among the fair clan.
Shock and shame
Laughing stock for them
Her birth was a gloomy day
No celebration on her birthday
Ostracised by one and all.
But sincerity and diligence
Became her close companions
The dark one outshone
The fair ones
The ugly duckling
Became an achiever
A beautiful swan forever.

Poignant poem with a beautiful, uplifting ending. I have also written on a similar theme today.
Nice poem,yet the fact remains it takes time to realise that not so beautiful people too are beautiful.
