The tempest

Sweltering on a sultry day

As the sun shines on the bay

The sky grumbles and clouds roll

Thundering trouble foreseen

As cacophonous rumbling heard

A storm incoming

Roost stirred, fledglings preserved.

A gloomy silence overcomes

As dark clouds assemble

The sun cloaked in grey

A jagged streak piercing the sky

An anvil struck the auditory sense

A dark day like the devil’s soul

Malicious clouds gyrated in rebellion

Mighty winds raged through the woods

Tearing limbs and hoods

Clouds burst into a gushing waterfall

The rumblings quietened

The smiling sun returned

The tempest fury calmed down

As a colourful rainbow smiles on.
