Spring

‘Spring is in full bloom’, she said,

Wiping his moist eyes, he spelled, ‘my last spring’,

‘The fragrant memories of our springs will stay, my love’, she said

‘And when you walk past beds of daffodils and buttercups,

Smile at them,  and I shall smile back ’, she said.

‘Don’t skip  your meals, forget not your medicines’

‘I shall be watching from up above’ she said.

Wrapping his wrinkly palm with her ailing hand,

‘Let’s live today, come love, let’s go’ she said.
