Songster

Songster

***********

Deep from the heart of dark night,
A mellifluous voice wafts in the air,
Songster!
Why do you sing so haunting a song,
Touching the very chords of my heart ?
Riding on the waves of soft breeze,
Wafting through the corridors of my soul,
With plaintive  melody of my lost love,
It brings stinging tears to my waiting eyes.
Songster!
What  do you know,
Of the partings that get stuck inside,
Like the broken shards of glass,
Giving excruciating pain at the touch,
Of the soft melodies that remind the hurt.
Did you peep into my bleeding heart?
Songster!

What do you know ,
Of love that gets smeared in the heart.
Like the fragrance of  nocturnal bloom,
Dripping down unabashed like  silver tears ,
Why does your  melody remind me ,
Of the one who has forgotten me?
