She came into the world
With a faint cry
Her eyes shined through the baby quilt
Her smile spread joy all over
Peals of laughter
Patter of her tiny feet
Happiness flowing
Like a waterfall
Her youth heralded
By the red trickle
Forbidden now to giggle
Boundaries drawn
A five day period ostracism
Eclipsed from fun prism
Empowered to bring in a new life
But her own life became a riddle.

Sad and true.
Harsh reality
That was a short poem, revealing a hurting reality. So much changes after puberty, for a girl.
Sad but true.
Such a sad reality. Beautifully portrayed, ma’am. <3
No words. A sad truth
