Nostalgia

When I am unable to sleep at night,

And day takes ages to dawn,

My heart takes me to the lanes,

Where I spent my days bygone,
Long , unkempt hair or a ponytail,

A lovely frock getting small and small,

Hopping or jumping or playing ball,

Running around till about to fall.
Arguing over trifles and forgetting soon,

Slipping out in hot afternoon,

Ravaging every fruit tree all around,

Will not stop till scolded sound.
Pretending to study in a silent space,

Sharing our stories of the school that fade,

Laughing at teachers,mocking class mates,

Falling silent again at father’s voice enraged.
Laughing softly , talking ever so slow,

Our faces had the loveliest glow.

Long lost is the love and togetherness,

That we shared in our childhood home.
Those lovely days and blessed nights,

Sleeping soundly after play or fights,

Wish those carefree days are back,

To compensate for love and sleep I lack.
