I’m dark, I’m power
I embrace the hope to empower
*
To accept, to acknowledge, to appreciate
For I’m not just a “color”, doomed by fate
*
My skin color is my asset, my pride
Though my unvoiced emotions, vividly pictured “apartheid”.
*
Amidst dark mist and fragmented dreams, I rejoice with glee
Causing the deep-rooted hatred and apathy to flee.
*
I’m unconventional, I’m unique and I’m “me”
I implore all, please let me be “simply me”.
*
For dark skin is charming, alluring and bold
Camouflaging million inspiring stories untold.
*
I’m the hopeful dark that precedes golden sunrise
Soothing the restive soul and caressing the gleaming eyes!

Thank you so much 💚
Yes how we divide, if it’s not colour, creed then it’s some other defining factor. We’re a prejudiced lot. Loved your poem.
