Let There Be Light

Let There Be Light

A street urchin,starving

And fumbling his dirty fingers,

In the heap of garbage,

Searching for,

One piece of bread,

One morsel of food,

Is a sight as common,

As a street puppy,

Sniffing for his treat,

In the same venue,

With his animal instinct.

.

Hunger,

Which blurs the border,

Between a human,

And a dog –

Surprisingly, fails to move us,

Fails to reveal us the darkness,

That lurks in our own heart.

.

Let there be light,

Which would erase,

This darkness of our minds,

Our tendency to remain blind,

To others’ plight.

For we can be humans,

If we perform our duty,

To usher light everywhere-

And contribute in our own way,

To God’s grand plan.
