Intoxication

Now that you are here

Sit with me, have a sip

This luscious deep-crimson-magenta hue

Will stain your lips with the colour of romance

And reach deeper

Its vapours seep into your veins

Slowly

Not the mad rush of the first love of adolescent minds

But the slow indelible attraction of every gaze held, just a little longer

The blush of your heart will tinge your cheek

Till its rhythmic reverberations pour out in laughter and makes music with mine

….

Now that you are here

Let us pour from the half empty reservoir of our middle-aged hearts

And get intoxicated in the sparkle of our eyes

Dancing on the edge of the shimmering glass

….
