Freedom

Useless, shameless, I heard them cry,

Despair as dark as black ink, streaked the sky,

I watched it seep into my pores,

Alas! I was scared to reach out for the waters on the shore!

White – pristine and clear though I could see,

Oh how I wish! It were my destiny,

But where I stood, the light seemed distant,

Until I heard a voice, although faint,

Hello! Is it us you are looking for?

They chorused together, tiny specks onshore,

Who are you? I asked clueless,

Fear not, we will free you, oh, damsel in distress!

Violet, shrouded in mystery, stepped forth,

My fair lady, spirituality I endorse,

Indigo smiled, wisdom in his eyes,

Introspect, he whispered in his soft cries,

Blue was joyful in his walk,

Fear not, trust me, he added in his talk,

Green, full of kindness and harmony,

A symbol it was, of balance and stability,

Yellow enthusiastic in his approach,

Like happiness and sunshine on the porch,

Orange was optimistic and full of adventure,

Be bold, he reminded, do not fear to venture,

Red brought the much needed energy and passion,

You have the courage, he drew my attention.

Like little soldiers, these colors of the rainbow,

Resided in me and I could see them glow,

Warmth and delight spread through me,

A light shining bright, at last, I laughed in glee!

The dark clouds dispelled, only leaving love in its wake,

Freed of shackles I finally was, make no mistake!
