Expeditions on waves

Oh!  The blinding solar glare,

Conjures mirages in humid Junes,

Miles and miles of a world that’s bare,

Through waves of burning sand dunes!

Oh! The sounds of wilderness,

Make the nerves curl and quiver,

Through the evergreen excess

Gurgle the waves of a dancing river!

Oh!  The sweet smells of ripened fields,

Wafting over a noon-time breeze,

Ears of corn that gracefully kneeled,

Waving out to the humming bees!

Oh! The colours, the setting sun,

Threw over the evening sky,

Tiny feet to home return,

As sea waves call out goodbye!

Oh! The frosty glacial land,

Glistening in the Arctic nights,

Shivering yet spell bound I stand,

Watching waves of the northern lights!
