Eclipsed

he is brilliant, scintillating

riding a massive chariot

trounces darkness all around

so they say

i bask in his cozy warmth

thrive in his coruscating radiance

he’s the protective shield around me

so they say

I am elated when he smiles

I pale when he broods

he’s what lights up my very being

so they believe

but aah! only i know the truth

and so i tell them –

the naysayers

listen carefully, as i speak

besieged i may be by his shadows

with his moods I may wax and wane

but eclipsed forever I am not

and proudly i declare

I will trounce the shadows

I will bounce back

I will light up my own world
