Bare and Burdened

Holding riches of contentment

Flying light traversing barbed miles endless,

Haggard mien barefoot, unabated dream

Enthralling emmer sunshine beckoning.

.

Stories they heard, glorious land lush

Rosy days where nights resplendent

River munificent flowing elixir

Blissful promised land, hope burgeoning.

.

Frayed bindle of burden, penury a dent

On shoulders frail, life is heavy

Thatched roof leaking ‘n broke present

Left childhood alleys, hunger extreme

.

Lofty skyline opulence fetid, lament

Lowly stifled by the din, life is grim.
